1. Who we are
Los Olivos Cloud (losolivoscloud.com) is a local information platform for the Monteverde, Tilarán, and Guacimal area of Costa Rica, providing local news, road status, and weather information. For questions about this policy, contact us at admin@losolivoscloud.com.
2. Information we collect
No account is required to browse the site. There are no public contact forms, newsletters, or comment sections in this version of the site. The information we do collect:
- Display preferences: we store your unit-system preference (metric/imperial) in your browser via
localStorage, not a traditional cookie. This data never reaches our servers and does not identify you. - Usage and analytics data: we use Vercel Web Analytics to understand, in aggregate and anonymized form, how many people visit the site and which pages they view. This tool does not use individual tracking cookies.
- Advertising (Google AdSense): this site displays, or will display, ads through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized Google ads at Google Ads Settings.
- Admin panel: access to the administration panel (
/admin) requires login and uses an authentication token (JWT) stored locally in the administrator's browser. This section is not intended for the general public.

4. How we use the information
We use the information described above solely to: (a) operate and improve the site, (b) understand aggregate content usage, and (c) fund the service through advertising. We do not sell personal information to third parties.
5. Third parties we share information with
- Google AdSense / Google Ads: for ad delivery. Google may collect and process data under its own Privacy Policy.
- Vercel Inc.: as our hosting and web analytics provider.
- Open-Meteo: the weather data provider queried by our backend; it does not receive personal data from site visitors.
6. Your rights
If you access this site from Costa Rica, you have rights of access, rectification, deletion, and objection over your personal data under Law No. 8968 on the Protection of Individuals Regarding the Processing of Their Personal Data, and may file inquiries with PRODHAB.
If you access this site from the European Union, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you additionally have the rights recognized under the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection, and restriction of processing). You may exercise any of these rights by writing to admin@losolivoscloud.com.
7. Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document reflects the current version.
